Having imagined it to be rural and quaint, I discovered it to not only have big cities and industry, but also especially traffic! Living in Ottenbach, a village outside of Zurich, I realized that the roar of traffic can even be heard when taking a walk in the forest. \u00a0The Ottenbach community is itself plagued by traffic and recently approved the construction of the new major A4 highway in the vicinity of a protected nature reserve.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-av_one_half-9c1d454dc06f7247226bc4e8f931daae\">\n.flex_column.av-av_one_half-9c1d454dc06f7247226bc4e8f931daae{\nborder-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\npadding:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='flex_column av-av_one_half-9c1d454dc06f7247226bc4e8f931daae av_one_half  avia-builder-el-5  el_after_av_one_half  el_before_av_hr  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding  column-top-margin'     ><section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-0366cc7376be6c9e82a3e9cc8987b64f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Often referred to as &#8216;the Switzerland of South America&#8217; in my own country the problems of development \u2013 urban sprawl, noise pollution \u2013 are just emerging. As many claim that &#8216;it comes to Uruguay 30 years later&#8217; I envision the Switzerland of today as representing the state of Uruguay in the year 2043.<\/p>\n<p>Recording and exploring noise pollution from highways, trains and tunnels this artistic work also entailed live performance of the sounds using my own body, as well as an investigation of Swiss national remedial measures and public debates to formulate my own position and raise questions concerning the future in &#8216;developing&#8217; Uruguay.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n<div  class='hr
